HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF SEFTON LIBRARY SERVICES

The following extract is from a statement on the Sefton MBC web site.

From Monday 7 to Saturday 19 February, Sefton residents will be asked to give their opinions on the future opening hours of the Sefton library service....

Christine Hall, Head of Library Services said: “Due to a reduction in the overall funding received by Sefton Council, one of the savings for Sefton libraries, is a reduction in opening hours across all Sefton libraries.

However, before we go ahead and make those changes, we would like the residents who use the service, to have their say. There is little point reviewing the times without asking those who use the service what their opinions are and giving them a chance to have input into the changes that will effect them”.

Formby Weather Disruption

The recent disruption in Formby caused by the weather  was the most prominent item under discussion at last night's meeting of the Formby Area Committee meeting.

The meeting was attended by Sefton MBC CEO, Mrs Margaret Carney and other senior officers. Local Councillors and members of the public in attendance heard in detail about the lead up to the disruption. The steps that had been taken at the time and the subsequent promise to evaluate the outcomes with a view to improving the policy.

Local traders, who attended, described the disruption and supported the request for more grit bins in the village and at other shopping points in Formby. Mrs Carney has promised to arrange a meeting for face to face talks with the traders as soon as possible.

Sefton Formby Area Committee Meeting

This committee wil be holding it's first meeting of the new year on Thursday 6th January in the Ravenmeols Community Centre. The meeting will commence at 7.00pm.

Members of the public can participate during a 'public forum' item on the agenda, but they must submit a notice of a question to Sefton MBC, 24 hours in advance of the meeting.
