CumfyBus service update.

At 9.20 am on Tuesday they have announced that due to ice there is no service in Formby.

Another eye-catching tree?

We recently published some photographs of a Christmas tree outside a local pub. Our eye's were also drawn to this unusual form of Christmas Tree decoration (Not entirely traditional, but in the spirit of Christmas we think you'll agree).

We're not giving the location away, but it's not a million miles away from the first set of pictures!

Oh, and the decorations on this window plant are keys, actually that's quite a clue as to where you'll find it.

Chapel Lane will be closed between Elbow Lane and Three Tuns Lane to enable the annual “Nativity Play” to take place.  This road will be closed to traffic on Saturday 11 December between 07:00 and 13:00 hours.

160:  As normal from Formby Village Car Park to Formby Bridge (Bus Stop A) then via Duke Street, Three Tuns Lane, Summer Road (Formby Village Car Park), Elbow Lane, Duke Street, Cross Green, Liverpool Road then as normal route (omitting Chapel Lane).

161:  From Formby Village Car Park via Elbow Lane, Duke Street, Three Tuns Lane, Halsall Lane, (omitting Chapel Lane) then as normal route to Formby Bridge (Bus Stop A), then via Duke Street, Three Tuns Lane, Sumner Road (Formby Village Car Park), Elbow Lane, Duke Street, Cross Green, Liverpool Road, then as normal route (omitting Chapel Lane).

Due to the road closure, the nearest stop for diverted services 160, 161 and 164 is the existing stop in Formby Village Car Park.

Formby Parish Council Precept Debate Continues

At it's meeting on Tuesday evening, Formby Parish Council members decided that they would continue to debate the size of next years precept before making a final decision at their January meeting.

A precept is the money that a Parish Council raises by means of a small charge on each house within the Parish Boundaries. The precept is collected by Sefton MBC on behalf of the Parish Council. The money is spent within and for Formby Parish residents. The CCTV cameras and the recent village refurbishment have all been paid for with the precept.

The precept costs a Band D property in Formby about £4.50 there are small variations in this figure for houses in different bands.This precept is added to the Council Tax bill and is an addition to that bill. By way of comparison the average Formby resident pays £4.50 per annum, while a Band D property in Maghull is charged around £85 per annum. The Merseyside Police and Fire Authorities also set charges of £146.23 and £64.77 respectively.

Formby Village Nativity

Formby Churches Together will be staging their annual village Nativity in Chapel Lane this coming Saturday, 11th December at 11.00am.

The nativity will be performed by a range of people drawn from the community, including schools, and churches.

It's expected that the event will be supported by large numbers of local residents and visitors to Formby.
